NEW BARI BOOK Dick Sheridan -- ASAP Chord Solos for the Baritone Ukulele: Learn How to Play the Baritone Way

Dick has a baritone ukulele book out. I bought one right away as I like to support anyone who supports the bari-uke playing community. It has a good selection of songs in large font with chord diagrams. The songs are of a vintage variety and have short tales to go along with them. Best of all the chords will build many an intermediate player's knowledge of chords up and down the neck.

The book is a quality publication by the Hal Leonard Corporation and sells for about $20.

Joy Ike || Promised Land (Random Tea Session #26)

Joy wrote... "Hi Bari World, I wanted to submit this song for your website because I love watching the videos you post and I love playing the Baritone Ukulele. Thank you and much love! -- Joy"

Nigerian Singer/Songwriter Joy Ike Releases New Video - Promised Land

Torn between her father's country and the man she loves, Promised Land is a story of a woman caught between two worlds. Affectionately referred to as a modern day Romeo & Juliet story, Joy Ike's song off her latest album, All or Nothing, shares a common struggle for children of immigrants - love or legacy. Promised Land chronicles the mixed emotion of embracing and treasuring one's own culture while living in another.

Nigerian (Igbo) singer/songwriter Joy Ike’s music has drawn comparisons to female musicians such as Corinne Bailey Rae, India Arie, and Norah Jones. But her percussive playing and soaring vocals give homage to her African upbringing drawing parallels to modern Afro-pop artists Nneka, Asa, and newcomers Ibeyi.

Having opened for artists Cody Chestnutt, Jeffrey Gaines, Deas Vail, Butterfly Boucher, Serena Ryder, Tyrone Wells, Christopher Williams, Najee, and Allen Toussaint, to name a few, Ike’s path has consistently taken an “anywhere for anyone” approach playing for intimate audiences in coffeehouse, Universities, house concerts, churches, and small theater settings. A write-up on NPR's All Things Considered says "The depth of subjects she tackles in her poetic lyrics are perfectly complemented by a unique blend of neo-soul, with just the right dash of pop...a truly compelling act to watch in person, with the ability to create an intimate setting in locations big and small." A segment on NPR's World Cafe (December 2013) featured Ike as one of Pennsylvania's up-and-coming artists.
