Manriq47 || It's Only a Paper Moon

Manriq47 wrote some historical info. . .
"It's Only a Paper Moon was written in 1933 by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg for a Broadway play that didn't do very well. However, it was used that same year in the movie Take a Chance in which I believe Cliff Edwards (aka Ukulele Ike, aka Jiminy Cricket) sang it. During the heydays of the Cotton Club in Harlem, Arlen co-wrote a number of hits with his then writing partner, Ted Koehler. Let's Fall in Love and Stormy Weather were a couple of standouts. Along with Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen is one of my favorite song writers from that long ago time. Among others, he and Mercer co-wrote Blues in the Night, That Old Black Magic and One for My Baby. However, I guess the song Harold Arlen is most known for is that sentimental favorite, Over the Rainbow, also co-written with Harburg for the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz. It won the Academy Award that year."
