In my opinion, this uke is an excellent value for the price. My wife and I bought one for each of us last Sept. from Austin Bazaar (on sale) for about $325 w/gig bag and tuner. Current price on their website is $375.
We're just advanced beginners but this uke is worlds better than the cheapo that I started with. I changed to D'Addario strings which last longer and sound better than the Aquila. The instrument seems to be very well made and looks great. The tone and sustain was excellent when new and, even to my worn out ears, they have "opened up" significantly since new.
Unless you can afford the huge $ leap to the big names, I am betting that you can't find a better sounding bari uke.
