Leonoffski || NASI STARZY

Notice the Bari player on the left. He also gets a few close ups. I don't understand a word but this is a hot little band video. Those Kala Starburst w/ f-holes are hot looking ukes. Tell me that this one didn't rock your boots!

  2. I've one of these Kala Jazz Ukes mayself and tuned it with special Aquila Strings to DGBE with a High-D. Sounds very good. I think the Baritone-Tuning suits Tenor-Ukes very well.

  3. @ Guchot -- Those Kala Jazz Ukes are one of the coolest looking ukes (except for the palm tree on the fretboard.) The KJU is also an electric uke which I don't have any in my collection currently. I haven't tried high D but just for a few days. Much of the flatpicking that I've been doodling with comes from the guitar world and therefore I've stay down low and dirty. Although the focus of this blog is bari -- I am open to bari-tuned tenors.

  4. So Jeff, if these are JAZZ ukes, why have I never seen anyone playing JAZZ on one? Never, ever, neverever...

  5. @HumbleUker: I play High-D on the Kala because the Aquila set is only available in High-D. I also have a Lanika 8-String Tenor tuned to DGBE, which is an interesting alternative to the rare 8string Baritones. You can find an Example here:

    Music starts at 1:40

  6. @Guchot: Regarding Aguila Strings: I have the package beside me now and it says baritone and I had a low D string in the set. On the http://www.juststrings.com/aquilaukulele.html
    website these are called "guitar tuning"
