The Hula Honeys || Seabreeze

"www.hulahoneys.com e-mail:info@thehulahoneys.com "Seabreeze" was a song we heard back when we were little girls in Waikiki. It's really a take-off on the song" Pua Mana" written by Aunty Irmgard. We took it for granted when we were kids, as is often the case. Now it's a standard in our repetoire. You can hear it and us at Hana Hou Cafe on Maui. Come visit any Monday night from 6-9PM."

  1. I like the way Ginger plays those 9th chords up and down the neck and gets a jazzy feel into this tune. That Pono Bari has a real nice look too.

  2. Sigh. They always make me feel the breezes and smell the flowers when they bring the Islands to us, Jeff. I first became aware of the jazzy approach to Hawaiian music when I vacationed there in the '80s and discovered the Brothers Cazimero.

    Now, a Pono would be wasted on the likes of me, HU, but in the loving hands of Ginger it shows us what it can do and sings its aloha to one and all.

    For any who haven't strayed over to Humble Uker of late, Jeff posted a video of a very young Taimane Gardner performing a couple of tunes, one of which is Sea Breeze. Give it a view, well worth it.

    Oh, and the Pono looks really nice, too, does it? Rub it in...
